There will be lots of opportunities to give back to the community on Tuesday, December 2 with Guelph Gives. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to support charities and non-profits. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two days that are good for the economy. GivingTuesday is a day that is good for our community.
OVC’s Pet Trust will be donating two copies of their new book, Live-Love! Famous Canadians and the Pets They Love, to each of the branches of the Guelph Public Library (including the book mobile) and they will also participate in the Giving Fair at the Old Quebec Street Mall on December 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
As well, the Department of Alumni Affairs and Development is sponsoring an online challenge to raise $50,000 in 50 hours from 1,964 donors. A nod to the University of Guelph’s 50th anniversary, the 50 Challenge will support teaching and learning projects, scholarships, research and facilities.
Anyone can participate and watch the countdown at www.guelph50.ca. Follow the challenge online or through social media (#UofG50) to learn more about the priority projects that will benefit from U of G’s 50 Challenge.
As well, you can go to the UC and donate 50 cents to the “BIG 50” designed and built by the Fine Arts Network. Funds raised will go to the Library Learning Commons
