The 2014 Schofield Memorial Lecture caps off the day with OVC alumnus, Dr. Corrie Brown, Professor of Veterinary Pathology with the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

Brown’s talk, entitled Lessons and Lesions from Around the World, will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Room 1714 of the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre.

Prior to joining the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Brown was with the U.S. Department of Agriculture at Plum Island, where, as Head of the Pathology Section, she specialized in the diagnosis and pathogenesis of transboundary animal diseases. Brown has worked internationally in building animal health infrastructure and diagnostics for more than 25 years. She has conducted workshops on basic field necropsy and diagnostic techniques in 30 countries. She is happiest when working on animal health issues with veterinarians in a developing country setting.

A reception and award presentation follows at 4:30 p.m. in room 1707 LLC.

The Schofield lecture commemorates Francis Schofield, a renowned veterinary pathologist who taught at the college from 1921 to 1955. Internationally respected for his work in animal diseases, he is also revered in Korea for calling attention to the nation’s plight during its occupation by Japan and for his teaching and missionary work in Korea following his retirement from OVC.
