This information is about the potential labour disruption involving CUPE 1334 representing trades, maintenance and custodial. The University has been in negotiations with CUPE 1334 employees to achieve a new collective agreement. Unfortunately to date, no agreement has been reached although the parties remain hopeful that an agreement can be achieved prior to the legal strike position at 12:01 a.m., Monday March 13, 2017. This notice is to provide you with guidelines and the list of immediate actions for your department’s procurement and supply planning in preparation for a possible labour disruption.
- The number of deliveries and shipments arriving on and after March 13 must be minimized. This includes all orders, deliveries and supplier visits already scheduled or to be scheduled.
- Review your outstanding purchase orders and expected deliveries. If any of the dates are on or between March 13 and March 17, call your suppliers to reschedule so the dates are no later than March 10 if possible.
- Take inventory of your supplies and stock them up. Order additional supplies essential to your operations. Make sure orders are place early so that they arrive no later than March 10.
Purchasing Services will provide further instructions and guidelines as we move closer towards the deadline of the legal strike. For the latest instructions and guidelines please visit the University of Guelph’s Financial office website.
