The Action Planning phase of our OVC Strategic Planning is well
underway. Our five Action Planning Groups each have been meeting to work
through their Critical Strategic Issue, further refining, defining and
identifying measurable actions to respond to these issues.
As I mentioned in my previous post about our Strategic Planning process, our initial retreat identified five Critical Strategic Issues for further discussion, focusing on these areas:
Public profile/outreach (co-leads Stephanie Nykamp/Cynthia Kinnunen/Jane Dawkins)
State of the art facilities, infrastructure, technology (co-leads Paul MacDonald/Kim Robinson)
Recruitment/retention/collaboration of workforce (co-leads Carolyn Kerr/Carol-Ann Higgins/Luis Gaitero/Elise Wickett)
Research experience (co-leads Gordon Kirby/Shayan Sharif)
Student experience/Curriculum (co-leads Kerry Lissemore/Cate Dewey/Tarek Saleh)
Co-leads for each group joined Dean’s Council last week for an update and to voice their thoughts and concerns about the process and work ahead for the Action Planning Groups. It’s not an easy process as groups work to find focus and direction in each area. I am confident that the groups will identify one or two truly strategic issues that will further our college as an international leader.
And to remind you, there is a wealth of information on our strategic planning process, and progress to date, at this page: http://ovc.uoguelph.ca/strategic-planning . We will also continue to make use of the Bulletin for communication.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed and engaged in this process thus far. It is a critical one and your input is not only welcome, but important to this process.
