In December, 2014, the university engaged Chernoff Thompson Architects to update the 2009 OVC Master Plan and to do programming and cost-analysis of new and redeveloped areas.
The Consultants and the Steering Committee met weekly from January to May, 2015. Concurrently, the consultant team assessed existing space relative to determine status, suitability and quality of existing space. Meetings were held with numerous stakeholders representing various facets of the OVC. A spirited visioning session focused on teaching and learning, including emerging trends and traditional approaches, and the type of spaces necessary to support teaching and learning at OVC.
The initial draft Master Plan was presented to the OVC Community during a public feedback opportunity session, which provided an opportunity for anyone to review the plan and provide comments verbally, in written form on sticky notes or via email.
On May 13, 2015, the final OVC Master Plan 2015 was presented to the Physical Resources and Planning Committee of the University of Guelph Board of Governors. At their June 4, 2015 meeting, the Board of Governors passed the following motion:
RESOLVED, on the recommendation of the Physical Resources and Property Committee, the Board of Governors accept and approve that:
a) the re-developed Master Plan for the Ontario Veterinary College be approved, as presented; and
b) the plan be used as a framework for considering future capital projects related to the Ontario Veterinary College.
