Based upon the recommendation of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Admission and Program committees at the Ontario Veterinary College, the University of Guelph Senate has made the decision to remove the Medical College of Admission Test (MCAT) as an application requirement.
This decision has been based on the successful addition of the Multiple Mini-Interview (MMI) process in 2009. The MMI process gives applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their competency in communication, ethical behavior, critical thinking, problem solving and empathy. These interviews allow the admission committee to understand the full range of experience of DVM candidates beyond the MCAT’s standardized measurement of comprehension, evaluation of evidence and problem solving.
