A pat on the back and praise for OVC faculty

Dr. Paula Menzies received this thank you from a colleague in California after two fourth year DVM students, Hillary Esdon and Christie Ryan, completed an external rotation at her clinic this winter focusing on large animal (dairy cattle) and small ruminant.  The quote speaks for itself – faculty and students distinguished themselves.

“I want to send praise to you and your colleagues. I just had two students from OVC at our clinic/house. They were outstanding students and easily in the top tier of students we have had as externs. You and the other faculty have done an EXCELLENT job of teaching and preparing these young people to become veterinarians. We really enjoyed them and felt like they are in a great position to learn new skills and improve the skills they have. They both had a great foundation in medicine and science. They were able to think their way through cases and problems they didn’t have the answers for. It was refreshing since we have gotten to the point where we don’t take students anymore. We are not in a position to have students that don’t have the basics of animal handling, core knowledge, and client skills in place.

“I was so impressed with them and I wanted to tell you ‘good job!’ It always seems like criticism flows more freely than praise and we don’t hear enough about the good things we have done….keep it up. Your program is excellent!”
