F.W. Presant Memorial Lecture with Dr. Jayson Lusk, “Ham and Egg-Onomics”

Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 7:00pm, Lifetime Learning Centre, Room 1714, Ontario Veterinary College

Dr. Lusk is a Professor and Willard Sparks Endowed Chair in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University. His research focuses on predicting and understanding consumer behaviour as it relates to food. He has examined topics ranging from the economics of animal welfare to consumer preferences for genetically modified foods to the impact of new technologies and policies on livestock and meat markets. He has also analyzed the merits of new survey and experimental approaches eliciting consumer preferences. In 2011, he co-authored a book with Bailey Norwood on the economics of farm animal welfare entitled ‘Compassion, by the Pound: The Economics of Farm Animal Welfare’. His most recent book entitled ‘The Food Police: A Well-Fed Manifesto about the Politics of Your Plate’ slated for release in April 2013.
