OVC has been awarded a United Way “Spirit Award” for the 2014 campaign.
Kim Best, Uof G United Way campaign co-chair, and Judy Metherel, OVC area co-ordinator for this year’s United Way campaign, accepted the award on behalf of the OVC United Way team at the 2014 United Way Campaign Closing & Celebration Luncheon on Dec. 18.
OVC was chosen in the education division along with the UofG Department of Hospitality and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School.
Former Guelph Police Chief Bryan Larkin, the 2014 United Way Campaign Chair, congratulated OVC and pointed out how good OVC is on the social media front, particularly on Twitter.
At an earlier UofG United Way closing lunch, OVC’s Department of Pathobiology won the President’s Award, an award given to the unit, department or college that had the highest increase in both participation and dollars raised.
Congratulations and a big thank you to the OVC United Way team:
Biomedical Science: Kim Best (Campaign Co-Chair), Frances Graziotto
HSC: Judy Metherel (OVC area co-ordinator), Jackie Tamming, Dana Irvine, Victoria Wentzell, Sheila Currie
OVC Deans Office: Darlene Findlay, Jane Dawkins
Pathobiology: Elizabeth Gilbertson

OVC’s successful campaign contributes to the overall total of $3,576,650.00 raised across Guelph Wellington Dufferin. Linamar Corporation beat UofG for the workplace campaign total with $651,729 versus UofG’s $606,500. All that does is set the bar a little higher for next year!
