The challenges facing humanitarian organizations will be discussed in this week’s instalment of the U of G School of Languages and Literatures Public Lecture Series.

Jessie Thomson, acting director of CARE Canada’s humanitarian assistance and emergency team, will discuss “Shifting landscapes: humanitarian action in the 21st century” on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in  Room 020 of the MacKinnon Building.

Jessie Thomson graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA in peace and conflict studies followed by an MSc in international development studies from the London School of Economics. In addition to her work with CARE Canada since 2011 in Djibouti, Niger, Chad and South Sudan, she spent 2009-2010 in Pakistan as the Protection Delegate for the International Committee for the Red Cross.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the Program in International Development Studies at the University of Guelph
