An evening with Dr. Jane Goodall

Docs4GreatApes is partnering with Western University to present an evening with world-renowned Dr. Jane Goodall on Thursday, September 11, 2014.

Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, will reflect on the extraordinary change the world has seen since she first began her research of chimpanzees at Gombe Stream in 1960 under the mentorship of famed anthropologist and paleontologist Dr. Louis Leakey.

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall, Western University, and will be followed by a Q & A session and book signing by Dr. Goodall.

OVC grad Dr. Rick Quinn, an adjunct professor with Western University’s Department of Ophthalmology and a veterinary eye specialist, is the founding director of Docs4GreatApes.

Docs4GreatApes is a charitable organization aiming to increase awareness of the issue facing critically endangered species and their habitat, promote the One Health concept linking the health of animals, humans and the environment, and connect people, ideas and resources to deliver medical education to expand veterinary and human healthcare capacity.

Funds raised from the event will go towards Continuing Professional Development for the nurses, general practitioners, and veterinarians in the remote mountainous villages in Rwanda that is home to the critically endangered Mountain Gorillas.
