Join the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) team for coffee, breakfast treats, door prizes, and a tour of our facilities on Friday, Feb. 21 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.  This is a great opportunity to meet the staff and help launch the hospital’s new name: OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital. The hospital is part of the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre. image

“The new name better identifies who we are and what we do,” says Lisa Veit, the PHC’s practice manager. “Soon the OVC community will see much more about the new name and logo, including better directional and building signage, a new website address, and our upcoming preventative healthcare plans available to OVC staff and students.”

Under the new name, OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital will continue its commitment to providing clients and their pets with a full complement of services, including preventative healthcare, such as wellness exams and vaccinations, as well as dental care, nutritional and behavioural consultations, general medicine and surgery, and fitness and rehabilitation services.

The new name celebrates OVC’s roots.  Smith Lane is named for OVC founder Andrew Smith, who in 1862 established the Upper Canada Veterinary School, which then became the Ontario Veterinary College in 1869. OVC then became one of the University of Guelph’s founding colleges 50 years ago.

OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital will be inviting clients and the public to an open house and tour of the facility during College Royal on March 15-16.

For further information, contact the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital at 519-840-0100 or email us at ovcslah@uoguelph.ca  New clients are always welcome.
