Veterinary students and practitioners interested in supporting the human-animal bond are encouraged to attend an interactive lecture on Feb. 24 organized by the OVC Pet Loss Support Hotline.
Dr. Lianna Titcombe
Dr. Lianna Titcombe OVC ’99 will present “Euthanasia, pet loss and bereavement: support for your patients, your clients, and you” on Monday, Feb. 24 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre Room 1715.
The talk will provide:
• A glimpse into the exciting new field of animal hospice
• Practical tips on euthanasia techniques from an expert in the field
• Understanding the unique grief associated with pet loss
• Helpful advice to support your clients and yourselves through this loss
• Many pet loss resources, including client hand-outs you can use in your future practice
Dr. Titcombe has been the director of the Pet Loss Support Group of Ottawa since 2000 and was recently appointed to the board of directors of the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. She currently runs her own business (Claire Place Mobile Veterinary Services) as a hospice veterinarian servicing clients.
