Ontario Veterinary College Dean Jeff Wichtel and Prof. Gordon Kirby
The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) community celebrated Dr. Gordon Kirby’s 10-year term as Associate Dean, Research and Innovation at an open house on September 23. Kirby completed his term on June 30, 2019.
During his tenure as Associate Dean, Kirby, OVC DVM 1983 and PhD 1992, worked closely with the Dean’s Council to implement important initiatives that enhanced OVC research and graduate studies, including an innovative graduate scholarship program to help the College meet its graduate growth targets, opportunities to expand international partnerships and strategies to assist faculty members, particularly those in the early stages of their careers, to improve their research success.
A faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Kirby’s research focuses on molecular diagnostics and early biomarkers of disease, molecular toxicology and diagnostics, and the functional significance of altered expression of drug metabolizing enzymes.
