The OVC Alumni Association Awards (OVCAA) will be presented on Saturday, June 22 at the OVC Alumni Association Annual General Meeting.

The OVC Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have brought honour to their alma mater and fellow alumni in the areas of Alumni affairs, education, community, profession, country, and science. The OVC Alumni Association is proud to present this year’s Distinguished Alumnus Award to Dr. Clayton MacKay, OVC ’70, in recognition of his long-standing service to provincial, national and international associations serving the veterinary profession; his work to support veterinary education, alumni engagement and Pet Trust at the Ontario Veterinary College; and the dedication and leadership he has brought to the veterinary community throughout his career.
The OVC Alumni Association Young Alumnus Award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have made a significant contribution in their field within fifteen years of completing an undergraduate DVM or a graduate degree from a department within the OVC. This year’s OVCAA Young Alumna Award will be presented to Dr. Colleen Best, OVC ’09, in recognition of her contributions to the field of veterinary wellness, as well as her dedication to OVC, her profession and the community.
The OVC Alumni Association Volunteer Award was established to recognize OVC graduates who have volunteered their time within the college, community, a veterinary organization, nationally and/or internationally and bring honour and recognition to OVC. The 2019 OVCAA Volunteer Award winner is Dr. Doreen Houston, OVC ’80, in recognition of her valued contributions to the Ontario Veterinary College and OVC Pet Trust, and her willingness to selflessly give of her time in support of OVC and the veterinary community.
