Aleksija Neimanis is a wildlife pathologist and veterinary officer at the National Veterinary Institute in Sweden. She is Head of the Research and Development section in the Department of Pathology and Wildlife Diseases. Dr. Neimanis obtained a BSc (Marine Biology), MSc (Zoology) and DVM at the University of Guelph, a PhD from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and is a board-certified veterinary pathologist (ACVP). Her research investigates changing patterns of disease in wildlife, including emergence of new pathogens, to help understand underlying mechanisms and inform policy for wildlife, domestic species and humans. Dr. Neimanis also works within Sweden’s national wildlife disease surveillance program and studies both marine and terrestrial animal health. She currently is a member of the management committee for the Network for Wildlife Health Surveillance in Europe, the International Committee of the Wildlife Disease Association and the Working Group on One Health within Vétérinaires Sans Frontières International.
