Kamel Omer is conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Genevieve Newton, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Health & Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. Their research is exploring how instructors at the University of Guelph perceive and utilize student evaluations of teaching (SET’s) for formative purposes.
The call is to all instructors, including tenure/tenure track faculty, sessionals, and contractually limited faculty.
Instructors are invited to participate in a research study conducted by the Office of Educational Scholarship and Practice of the College of Biological Sciences (COESP) at the University of Guelph. The goal of the study is to explore how instructors across all departments at the University of Guelph perceive Student Evaluations of Teaching (SETs), how they utilize SETs, and how SETs inform teaching practices.
You are being asked to complete an online survey that will require you to reflect on your experience with end-of-semester SET feedback; how the feedback has (or has not) been used to inform your teaching practice, including course design and delivery; and how the utility of SET feedback might be improved. The survey is not anonymous for participants entering the draw for compensation; however, the data collected will be anonymized.
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary, you may withdraw at any point before submission of the survey or choose not to complete it.
As compensation for participation, you can be entered into a draw to win an iPad by including your name and email address on the final page of the survey where indicated. The probability of winning is approximately 1/250.
The survey can be accessed by clicking on the following link: https://uoguelph.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7OsbBJ3iUyfyWdn.
This study has been approved by the Research Ethics Board at the University of Guelph (REB #17-10-024). If you have any questions, please email Genevieve Newton (newton@uoguelph.ca).
