A number of Wellness@Work events and opportunities are taking place throughout April, including Learn to Run sessions.
April
10: Transitioning to Retirement- Financial Wellness Seminar
Retirement isn’t just about your finances-sometimes through our
planning and saving, we lose sight of the bigger picture. This interactive
workshop will engage participants in discussions on how to spend their time in
retirement and considerations for income planning.

13: Forgiveness- Letting Go and Moving Forward
It can be difficult, or near impossible, to forgive someone who
has hurt or wronged us. Holding on to these resentments can have negative
effects on our health, our well-being, and our ability to experience joy and
happiness. This session will explore what it means to forgive, how to move from
a place of anger to a place of peace, and how this process can free us from our
past hurts.

18: Making Mistakes in High-Reliability Organizations
MindWell-U is hosting a free online webinar. We all make
mistakes, but it’s what happens next that matters most in high-reliability
organizations. Join organizational social psychologist Dr. Ellen Choi as she
explains:
- How mindfulness training helps employees learn from mistakes, not hide or worry about them
- How mindfulness supports workplace safety and productivity
- Which factors contribute to making a workplace mindfulness intervention more likely to succeed

24: Learn to Run Info Session
Occupational Health and Wellness is offering a FREE Learn-to-Run
Clinic. Over a 12-week period you will slowly increase your running ability,
muscle strength, and endurance all while making new friends and connections at
the University of Guelph. Attend this information session to learn more.

24: Safety and Security for Front Line Staff
Front line staff members are normally the first contact for clients
and/or visitors. Learn how difficult situations can be dealt with effectively
while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Participants will gain
confidence and knowledge of safety and security within the work place.

27: The Science of Happiness
During this one-hour wellness session participants will:
- develop a deeper understanding about happiness and the latest
research in this field of study;
- increase their understanding of where they can have the greatest
impact and influence on increasing happiness and wellbeing.
- learn research-based techniques and strategies for long-lasting happiness.

2: UofG Historical Walking Tour
Learn about the rich history of the University of Guelph and the
built environment that bears the names of those who have made invaluable
contributions to it. Through the story-telling and narration of U of G alumna
and current staff member, Dr. Lisa Cox, you will hear about the rich history of
student experiences, architecture, research & innovation, and significant
individuals that have shaped every part of the University’s evolution.
