The work of several OVC researchers is included in a new magazine that highlights the successes of the five-year-long Animal Health Strategic Investment program.

The $7.5-million program was overseen by the Animal Health Laboratory and Laboratory Services Division, and was run through the University’s partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Rural Affairs.

The fund supported new initiatives and innovations, including tests for emerging diseases and early detection of new hazards, and the development and testing of emergency contingency plans for managing disease outbreaks. It also supported animal health research.

“Ontario’s capacity to ensure public and animal health and well-being has been greatly enhanced as a result of this program,” said Rich Moccia, associate vice-president (strategic partnerships).

“Among other things, it has provided sophisticated testing and high-technology analytical equipment, and supported the highly qualified personnel who perform this work for the benefit of all Ontarians.”
