A look at integrating public health into the healthcare system will open this year’s Master of Public Health (MPH) Forum on November 24.

Dr. Laura C. Rosella, Canada Research Chair in Population Health Analytics at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, will discuss Integrating Public Health into the Healthcare System.

Rosella holds scientific appointments at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and Public Health Ontario (PHO). She specializes in population data sources, ranging from primary collected to administrative data, health and non-health data, as well as in designing new methods to use these data in innovative ways such as developing analytic tools to support health decision-making.

Her recent research focus is on linking prevention efforts to health system sustainability. She has been awarded several national grants and was recently awarded a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Foundation scheme grant in support of her population health analytics research program.

Her presentation at 9 a.m. in 1714 Lifetime Learning Centre, is open to the OVC community, but seating is limited.

Now in its ninth year, the Department of Population Medicine’s annual MPH Forum showcases the work completed by MPH students in their 2017 summer practicum placements with provincial and federal public health government agencies and NGO based partners.

A highlight of the event is the presentation of the OVC Alumni sponsored Dr. Robert Clarke Public Health Prize for best poster. Posters are assessed for context, objective and creativity, appearance and presentation, as well as contribution to the public health field.

Posters will be available for viewing in 1707 LLC from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by student presentations and a lunch for invited guests.
