An OVC alumnus will be honoured by the University of Guelph during convocation week.
Dr. Brian Evans DVM ’78 will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws for his dedication to animal, human and environmental health. Evans will receive the honour during the OVC’s convocation ceremony that takes place June 12 at 4 p.m. in the Gryphon Fieldhouse.
The college will also celebrate the outstanding achievements of members of the Class of 2013 at the annual convocation awards. The awards take place prior to the convocation ceremony on June 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Rozanski Hall. For more information, see the complete list of awards and recipients.
A graduate of OAC and OVC, Evans served as Canada’s chief veterinary officer for a decade before being appointed executive vice-president of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in 2007. From 2010 to 2012, he was Canada’s first chief food safety officer. He is also Canada’s delegate to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) where he brings a global perspective to improving standards for veterinary education, food safety and animal health and welfare.
