OVC graduate nominated for Canadian Association for Graduate Studies award

A recent Ontario Veterinary College graduate has been nominated by the University of Guelph for the 2017 Canadian Association for Graduate Studies/ Proquest UMI Distinguished Dissertation Award  in the category of engineering, medical sciences and natural sciences.

Dr. Faisal Alibhai, who received his PhD in fall 2016, studied the role circadian rhythms play in cardiac disease, with Tami Martino’s lab in OVC’s Department of Biomedical Sciences.

The CAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards have been recognizing outstanding Canadian doctoral dissertations for more than 20 years.

The CAGS/Proquest UMI Distinguished Dissertation Awards recognize Canadian doctoral dissertations that make unusually significant and original contributions to their academic field. They were established in 1994 and are presented annually. The Awards are granted by the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) and are sponsored by Proquest-UMI (University Microfilms International).

Two awards are offered: one in engineering, medical sciences and natural sciences; and one in fine arts, humanities and social sciences.
