- CFI Cyberinfrastructure Initiative: Call for proposals (Challenge 1; Competition 2)
The Canada Foundation for Innovation’s Cyberinfrastructure Initiative supports research data infrastructure projects that create tailored, shared and integrated data resources (e.g., databases and data repositories) capable of enabling leading-edge research on significant scientific, social and economic questions.
The CFI expects to fund between five and 10 proposals and has encouraged institutions to be “very selective” about which Notices of Intent they put forward. The Office of Research thus requests that applicants obtain the prior written approval of their ADR and the Associate Vice-President Research Services, John Livernois, in advance of preparing an NOI. To do so, applicants must submit a description of their initiative (maximum one page) to their ADR by no later than Thursday, March 23, 2017.
The subsequent internal deadline for NOIs, along with an OR-5 form, is Friday, April 28, 2017. - CIHR Project Review

Graduate Scholarships valued at $50,000 per year to support research focused on agriculture and food
For the current competition there are 3 scholarships for masters students and 3 scholarships for doctoral students who are entering a graduate program in Summer 2017, Fall 2017 or Winter 2018. The scholarships are valued at $50,000 per year for up to 2 years for masters students and up to 4 years for doctoral students.
Deadline: April 3rd, 2017 - Graduate Research Assistantships valued at $17,500 per year
For the current competition there are up to 10 RAships worth $17,500 per year available to entering and in-program masters and doctoral students that want to work with a multi-disciplinary team as part of the Food from Thought research initiative.
