OVC is pleased to welcome Julie Byczynski who joined the Alumni Affairs and Development team on February 28, 2017, as the Senior Development Manager in OVC.

Julie’s introduction to professional fundraising came 17 years ago when a temporary position at Ottawa’s United Jewish Appeal turned into a rewarding career that has spanned three countries. Most recently, Julie has served as Campaign Director for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra raising funds for major new initiatives, including capital improvements, endowment and planned giving.

Julie and Whisper

Previously, Julie served Canada’s National Arts Centre in Ottawa (between 2002 and 2014), working with donors from across Canada to support the performing arts. During a four-year hiatus from Ottawa, Julie’s passion for drama and travel collided when she worked as Campaign Manager and later as Senior Major Gifts Manager for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Julie is a double alumna (BA, MA) so she knows the University of Guelph well.

“Being back on campus feels like coming home,” said Julie after completing her first week. “While I’ve always known and respected OVC for its excellent reputation nationally and internationally, I’ve only just begun to appreciate the incredible impact that the work being done here has on animals, human health and the environment. The quality and breadth of OVC research is breathtaking, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to connect the philanthropic community with these important endeavours and remarkable faculty, students and staff.”

Please welcome Julie back to Guelph and to the Ontario Veterinary College.

Julie can be found in OVC Main Building, Room 2638A at extension 54370 or via email at jbyczyns@uoguelph.ca
