A reception last week provided an opportunity to recognize and thank Dr. Neil MacLusky who concludes his tenure this week as Chair of OVC’s Department of Biomedical Sciences.
MacLusky joined OVC in 2005 as professor and Chair of the department.
“There are many tremendous things that Neil has achieved in his career,” said OVC Dean Jeff Wichtel. Along with a strong research and academic background, he highlighted MacLusky’s passion for teaching. “I know the amount of time he puts in and the degree of pride he takes in the graduates that come out of the UofG.”
Department colleagues Brad Hanna, Allan King and Jon LaMarre also honoured MacLusky, noting his guidance, leadership, mentoring and support. This “allowed each one of us to develop our careers, develop our programs and develop our lives within the family of Biomed,” said King.
“We have really appreciated the effort, the enthusiasm, the intelligence and the work that you put in to doing the job you did,” added LaMarre, noting the department is in a very strong place moving forward.
In addition to his administrative,
research and teaching responsibilities, MacLusky is also Co-director,
of the University of Guelph’s Collaborative Neuroscience Graduate Program.
