The Carlton L. Gyles OVC Support Staff Excellence Award is available to members of the support staff in any part of the Ontario Veterinary College. This includes administrative assistants, technical, secretarial or animal care staff involved in support of the teaching, research, animal care or other activities in the College. A typical awardee might be a research technician or someone involved in support of teaching laboratories or of work in the clinics.
Selection criteria: The person selected
should exemplify some of the characteristics of Dr. Gyles, including the
following:
- Being an exemplary role model;
- Creating a positive effect on those around them;
- Being thoughtful and compassionate;
- Having a willingness to accept responsibility that goes beyond their job function;
- Being a mediator;
- Striving always for high quality;
- Striving for everyone to win;
- Being optimistic.
Nominations: Nominations can be made by any faculty or staff member, or student in the College, including groups. The one to two page nomination letter should include the nominee’s name and contact information and the reason the nomination is being made. Up to three supporting letters from people aware of the nominee’s qualities and contributions should be included. Please submit your nomination packages for this award by email to the OVC Awards Committee c/o Elizabeth Lowenger at lowenger@uoguelph.ca by May 2, 2016 at noon.
The award will be presented at convocation on June 17, 2016.
