Gridiron Underground, chronicles the early struggles of some of the first African-Americans to play in the CFL. It isn’t just a film about football, it’s about the freedom of black athletes who broke down social barriers and achieved a sense of belonging.

The film is produced and narrated by John Williams Jr, who played with the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Joining Mr. Williams on the post screening panel will be: Ingrid Berkeley-Brown (Peel Regional Police) and University of Guelph students Malissa Bryan and Gabriel Broderick. The panel will be moderated by Patrick Case (University of Guelph/Human Rights Legal Support Centre). Hamilton Tiger-Cats Courtney Stephens, Adrian Tracy and Brian Simmons will also be in attendance.
